The Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) is an agency of the United States Department of Commerce that promotes the growth and global competitiveness of businesses owned & operated by minority entrepreneurs. 

The MBDA Business Center-Pennsylvania’s strategic focus is to maximize the job creation for Pennsylvania – New Jersey - Delaware minority business entrepreneurs (MBEs).

  • Swain Techs, an information technology firm located in Ardmore, PA, benefited from the procurement assistance provided by the MBC-PA and won a $3.8 million contract with the Department of Defense.
  • MBC-PA, in partnership with TEC-CC, worked with Baker & Company, LLC to secure a $3.9 million contract from United Healthcare that created 25 jobs.  MBC-PA also provided loan packaging services and a recapitalization plan that resulted in securing $75,000 in financing from Sovereign Bank.
  • With the help of MBC-PA and in a joint venture with Shoemaker Construction, Perryman Building and Construction served as the general contractor on the expansion of the West Oak Lane Charter School—an $8.9 million project.
  • Parts Life, Inc., a parts manufacturer and supplier, came to MBC-PA to obtain assistance with marketing. Parts Life was awarded a $12 million contract with the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Indian Head, MD with the assistance of our center.  Through TEC’s partnership with the Clinton Foundation’s Entrepreneur Mentoring Program, Parts Life was also matched with Brighton Cromwell, a prime contractor.
