ShoSho's Kitchen

One hundred bags of healthy, hearty, and helpful granola went to Share Philadelphia’s COVID-19 food response initiative thanks to Mary James Wyesol. Mary is the founder and CEO of ShoSho’s Kitchen Granola, a local food business that was incubated in The Enterprise Center’s Dorrance Hamilton Center for Culinary Enterprises. After working in the corporate sector for over 20 years, Mary made a switch to entrepreneurship. Through The Enterprise Center’s assistance, Mary learned about food costing, social media for businesses, and small business budgeting so she could grow ShoSho’s Kitchen Granola, a business that prides itself in using all natural, quality ingredients to craft delicious granola.

Mary, like many other small business owners, has had to decrease operations and make tough decisions because of COVID-19. ShoSho’s Kitchen Granola can be found at in-person and online farmer’s markets, such as Yardley’s and Philly FoodworksCustomers can pre-order and pick up their delivery through a contactless system at Yardley’s or have their delivery shipped to them through Philly Foodworks. They can also contact Mary directly through email, phone, or ShoSho’s social media accounts.

Although Mary is focused on making necessary adjustments to sustain her business, she’s also looking outward to help others. When asked about the 100 bag donation of ShoSho’s Kitchen Granola to the Share Food Program, Mary said she knew she wanted to pay it forward. “If I can help somebody in this time, then I definitely want to.” She also plans on donating some granola to medical professionals at Abingdon Hospital. She feels good about her donations because ShoSho’s Kitchen Granola is healthy, protein-rich, and helpful for medical professionals, kids, and families. “I wanted people to realize that there was good [and healthy] food [being donated].”

Making an impact through food donations is one-way Mary is showing up for Philadelphians during this time. When places open again, she hopes people will show-up for ShoSho’s Kitchen Granola and other small businesses. “I hope that when it all opens up that everybody goes out and supports our small businesses.”  You can support ShoSho’s Kitchen Granola now by connecting on social media here:
