Home Apetit

Chef Lee Wallach’s Philly-based home meal delivery business, Home Appétit, is feeding the frontline and satisfied clients across the city during the pandemic. Every week Home Appétit provides clients with an unrivaled level of quality, restaurant style options with a home-cooked feel. Many Home Appétit clients are medical professionals themselves, so when the need to feed the frontline delicious meals emerged, Lee and the Home Appétit team readily stepped up. Since starting, Lee and Home Appétit have leveraged client connections to feed frontline workers at City hospitals such as Penn, Jefferson, and CHOP.

While Home Appétit donates some meals, Wallach and the Home Appétit team have been inspired by the generosity of their clients and the community members who have donated directly to Home Appétit’s efforts. The gratitude Home Appétit has received has fueled their efforts, but to Lee, feeding the frontline “is the least they can do.”

Inspired by Chef Wallach’s “roots in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine” and 13 years of experience in the restaurant industry, Home Appétit blends a variety of cultures and flavors into its menus (Home Appétit, About). Philly’s exciting and rich food culture contributes to the businesses' success. Home Appétit also benefits from connections to businesses across Philadelphia and The Enterprise Center’s Dorrance H. Hamilton Center for Culinary Enterprises (CCE), which Wallach calls “a great community to be a part of.” Earlier in the businesses' history, Home Appétit catered from the CCE to leverage its services and grow.

That business growth has enabled Home Appétit’s team to deliver more meals to Philadelphians. Although COVID-19 presents new pressures and challenges, Home Appétit remains dedicated to keeping its team and clients safe as they continue making regular client deliveries in addition to feeding the frontline. The team knows their services are valuable and feel a responsibility to continue serving Philadelphia home cooked meals during this time.
