Proceeds from the event support TEC's ongoing work to accelerate the growth of disadvantaged, minority- and women-owned small businesses in the greater Philadelphia region through business technical assistance, financial acumen development, community development, and access-to-capital. The event highlights TEC’s Performance Equity Initiative – the region’s only source of patient capital for small and midsized businesses for venture and equity capital under $1M to create high economic impact through job creation.

TEC will recognize and honor three businesses who are leading the advancement of equity for minority entrepreneurs in the region:

  • Pat Claybrook/Jidan Cleaning – Patricia Claybrook is the President and CEO of Jidan Cleaning. The company’s continued success in the Philadelphia area is attributed to Claybrook’s broad range of skills in the areas of marketing, customer service, territory management, relationship cultivation, communications, and sales plan implementation.
  • Michael Brown/Element Mechanical Services – Michael Brown is the President and CEO of Element Mechanical Services as well as its parent company, Environmental Construction Services. Michael’s professional expertise involves engineering, manufacturing, coordination, installation, and delivery of commercial HVAC products and services for high-profile accounts in the Mid-Atlantic region.
  • Andre Andrews/Dre's Water Ice and Ice Cream (SPARK Award) – Andre Andrew is the owner and CEO of the dessert company, Dre’s Water Ice and Ice Cream. Dre’s products put an innovative spin on traditional flavors. Andre’s decision to start Dre’s Water Ice & Ice Cream in 2013 was fueled by his desire to enrich his community and produce gourmet desserts native to the Philadelphia area.

There will be a VIP cocktail networking reception preceding the event. Lighting The Torch is a Philadelphia Minority Entrepreneurship Development (MED) Week participating event.”
