The Enterprise Center’s Leaders About Business

TEC-LAB (The Enterprise Center’s Leaders About Business) believes that Youth + Entrepreneurship = Success.  To that end, we provide an innovative and award-winning program that offers youth a forum to explore entrepreneurship, develop leadership skills and serve their community as they create viable career options for the future. YES (Youth = Entrepreneurship= Success) was founded in 1997 to provide youth with exposure to entrepreneurship.  The Enterprise Center’s Business Education Department has recently included leadership and service components to the programs offered to teens and re-branded the initiative as our TEC-LAB program.

Since its inception, YES has served over 3,500 youth and has grown from a summer camp program to an after school program, then to an accredited in- school and after school program.  This builds toward our ultimate goal of ensuring every youth in Philadelphia is exposed to entrepreneurship and groomed for leadership during their high school career.  TEC-LAB expands on the core programs of YES and adds programs focused on leadership, community involvement, and service to the community.

Our unique program model combines the compulsory aspect of high school and the interactive and engaging components of an after-school course, combined with other opportunities for students to explore their communities. The In-School and After-School programs have students from partnering Philadelphia Academies public schools.
