The Enterprise Center Community Development Corporation Street Team Manager

Full Time including some evening and weekend hours
$30,000-$40,000 Annually Depending on Experience

Work Location: 4548 Market Street.
Reports To: Gabriel Mandujano, Executive Director

Job Description

The mission of TEC-CDC is to build neighborhoods where people are willing, able, and organized to achieve their common goals. TEC-CDC works in the Walnut Hill neighborhood, which is located between 45th and 52nd Streets from Market to Spruce Streets in West Philadelphia, to implement resident-led projects.
The Walnut Hill Street Team is a group of 15 West and Southwest Philadelphia residents trained as community outreach staff who go door-to-door to build relationships and to connect residents to educational and social service resources. The Street Team has encouraged significant interest in a variety of projects, including the Walnut Hill Neighborhood Plan, educational seminars, community block cleanups, tree plantings, and a block improvement grant program. In the future, the Street Team will lead educational campaigns on issues such as tenants' rights, credit counseling, afterschool programs, and home foreclosure prevention.


Responsibilities

– Managing a staff of 15-20 Street Team organizers
– Training the Street Team in communication and relationship-building skills
– Coordinating canvassing operations throughout Walnut Hill
– Coaching each Street Team member to meet personal and professional goals
– Managing relationships with the Street Team's partner organizations
– Maintaining timesheets, budgets, and hiring for the Street Team


Qualifications and Experience

– Candidate must be energetic, creative, personable, self-motivated, and committed to community empowerment
– Excellent verbal and written communicator
– Community organizing and/or management experience
– Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
– Familiarity with Philadelphia's nonprofit sector


Education

– High School Diploma Required; Bachelor's or Master's Degree Preferred

Youth + Entrepreneurship = Success (YES) Instructor

Reports To: Director of Business Education


Job Purpose Summary

The Enterprise Center (TEC) provides access to capital, capacity building, business education and economic development to high potential minority entrepreneurs. This position supports these initiatives in the following ways…YES is an award winning youth entrepreneurship program for under-resources high school students. The YES Instructor will provide direct, daily instruction during the academic year to students participating in the In School program; direct curriculum edits and revisions for all Business Education programs and provide instructional design for all Business Education training initiatives.


Functional Responsibilities

Provide direct daily instruction during academic year using YES In-School entrepreneurship curriculum; Implement curriculum featuring general business, entrepreneurship and business plan writing; Assess unique learning styles of students and vary instruction and activities; Maintain attendance, grade and evaluation records on a daily, weekly, monthly and semester basis using YES grade tracker and other tools;


Managerial Responsibilities

Coordinate curriculum edits and revisions with YES program manager; maintain a positive learning environment; Participate in all family meetings as required by school site


Organizational Responsibilities

Direct curriculum edits and revisions for all Business Education programs (Project Great Potential, YES Business Plan Camp, Philadelphia Housing Authority); Emphasize and exhibit entrepreneurial values to build strong participant interest; Serve as role model/mentor for program participants; Participate in TEC and/or school training and meetings as determined by TEC Director of Business Education; Assist YES program manager in the implementation of YES Youth Business Plan Competition


Qualifications

Education: BA or BS degree
Secondary Education certification from any state, PA preferred
Demonstrated project management skills, detail oriented, multi-tasking
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
Strong relationship building and networking skills with diverse groups
Demonstrated MS Office skills

Years of relevant experience: 2 plus years experience teaching middle/high school students in business or related courses (urban environment highly desirable)

Job Description

The Enterprise Center (TEC) is a minority business development center that cultivates market-driven opportunities for established and emerging minority entrepreneurs. TEC operates the PA Minority Business Enterprise Center (PAMBEC) and is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Commerce through the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA). PAMBEC's mission is to accelerate the growth of minority enterprises by increasing the number of minority firms capable of operating at a higher level of efficiency and profitability.


Position Responsibilities

•Enter and update client date and other relevant information.
•Provide administrative and systems support to the Project Director and Manager.
•Handle all administrative and operational duties related to clients, including but not limited to drafting correspondence, collecting fees, and maintaining files, and all documentation generated between PAMBEC and clients.
•Assist in create communication tools and systems to reach clients and stakeholders such as newsletter, email alerts, etc.

•Research and develop special projects as assigned by Director
•Manage information technology for client needs assessment tools.


Position Requirements and Competencies

•Previous experience with financial research.

•Excellent written, oral, and presentation communication skills
•Strong relationship-building and networking skills with diverse groups of people
•Ability to think critically and to multi-task and excel in meeting multiple objectives
•Tech-proficient with thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office


Education

•Seeking a degree in Finance, Marketing or Economics preferred.

Project Great Potential Intern

40 hours/week, summer

$10-$12 per hour depending on level of experience

Job Description

Project Great Potential (PGP) is an eight-week program that helps young adult males between the ages of 18-25 tap their entrepreneurial potential and develop personal and professional skill-sets. Many young adult males struggle with finding their direction in the journey of life and accessing the resources to achieve their dreams. PGP is designed to equip young adult males with the skills and tools necessary to succeed. PGP is a pilot-program funded by the U.S. Department of Labor for one-year. Thereafter, the plan is to expand PGP city-wide. Interns will help recruit clients, provide one-on-one coaching, help with program administration, research resource development for clients, and coordinate the client graduation event.


Qualifications

We are seeking someone with: experience working with young adult males, experience in mentoring and advising, strong-relationship-building and networking skills, highly detail-oriented with ability to multi-task, excellent verbal and written communication skills, basic MS Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

YES Event Planning Intern

40 hours/week, summer

$10-$14 per hour depending on experience

Job Description

The Enterprise Center (TEC) is a minority business development center that provides access to capital, building capacity, business education and economic development opportunities to high-potential, minority entrepreneurs. The Enterprise Center's YES (Youth Entrepreneurship = Success) Program runs a summer Business Boot Camp composed of five days of intensive training in business and entrepreneurship for high school students. The students are expected to prepare and give presentations in response to the lessons they have learned and the business leaders they have met. Lessons learned vary from the inspirational (How To Survive the Lean Years, Creating a Culture of Giving Back) to the practical (How To Give A Good Handshake, Proper Phone Etiquette), and everything in between. Interns will assist in the planning and implementation of Business Boot Camp, including the following responsibilities: design and coordinate business curriculum, recruit and manage speakers, sponsors, press, and volunteers, and assist with event logistics, registration, food, and audio/video.


Qualifications

We are seeking someone who has experience working with urban teens, experience in instructing and advising, experience in program management, understand the business formation process, and basic MS Office skills.
